Management and Construction
Al Jufrah Administrative buildings, Libya
Construction of 16 high class administrative buildings in the city of Al Jufrah. The complex includes an auditorium, convention rooms, lounges and several other rooms. Dessau was responsible for the building doors and trims of superior quality. With over 2000 doors in approximately 50 different models and exotic tree species, as well as several thousands square meters of high quality carved wood trimming and partitions, the installation and provision costs reach close to 9 millions $. (1998-2000)
Environmental impact studies and construction of three mini hydroelectric power stations, Dominican Republic The project includes the engineering, provision and construction of three small hydroelectric power plants by taking advantage of the hydroelectric potential of the existing dams and irrigation channels, as well as the electrical distribution networks. The main objective is consequently, the improvement of the quality of life for the region, taking the energy to rural populations that do not rely on the electrical service, or who receive it on a precarious basis. The works will have a minimum ecological impact, the natural habitats are not to be modified, since they take advantage of the existing channels. Local companies were hired for the accomplishment of some works, for the transfer of technology and engineering data for the future operation and maintenance of the equipment. The run-of-river power plants range in power from 1 to 2 MW and are located inland near the cities of San Juan, Las Barías and Canal Boba. The turbines installed were of Francis and Kaplan type. The project registers within the framework of a program of the national authorities for the future construction of small hydroelectric power stations throughout the country. Dessau provided original solutions in response to specific client requirements, including the supply of engineering services, procurement, construction management and the financing structuring for the entire project (2001-2002 environmental studies; construction: ongoing since 2004).
