Centre de formation professionnelle des Patriotes – Construction and expansion (Sainte-Julie) (January 2003): Construction (8,400 m²) and expansion (1,830 m²) of an educational facility used for professional training. This multi-functional centre includes various administrative spaces, offices, classrooms, laboratories of all kinds, community spaces, areas for receiving and storing merchandise, sanitary facilities and, above all, workshops for professional instruction in painting, carpentry, the making of clothing, computers, woodworking, meat production, upholstery, trailer repair, industrial manufacture of clothing, office automation, and the culinary arts. Centre de formation professionnelle Pierre-Dupuy – Expansion (Longueuil) (1995): Construction of the construction pavilion. This multifunctional building was to be dedicated to teaching construction and computer trades and occasionally to be transformed into a paint workshop. As a result, the structure was designed with a concrete base and enlarged beams were installed to support the structure for the upper floor. This system serves to support heavy loads and broad trusses for the workshops. An obvious steel structure was used for the roof. The columns were anchored with a single central bolt. It should be noted that Dessau designed the main building in 1963. Commission scolaire des Laurentides - Construction of the new Centre de formation professionnelle Le Florès (Mont-Tremblant) (2004 – in progress): Construction of a new professional training centre for horticulture. The building includes several classrooms, a workshop, offices and a large exhibit hall with water basins. The centre was designed to be ecoenergetic in order to satisfy the criteria of the Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) Commercial Building Incentive Program (CBIP) as well as the criteria of Hydro-Québec’s assistance program (“Appuis aux initiatives”). The Centre also had to satisfy the minimum requirements of the LEED program. The expected annual energy saving is $142,000.
Collège Gérald-Godin – Construction, retrofitting and energy saving project (Sainte-Geneviève) (2003): Renovation of an existing building with an area of 7,200 m2, formerly owned by Domrémy-Montréal and built in 1933. This building has a certain number of interesting characteristics, the most remarkable of which is probably the cloister located near the main entrance. The project involved the addition of a building with an area of 6,350 m2, to house various functions of the future college, as well as a theatre with 350 seats, which will serve the population of Montreal’s West Island. This complex was designed to respect the natural and man-made environment. Care was taken to reduce the impact of the new construction on this exceptional site. CÉGEP de Saint-Hyacinthe – Construction of the Pavillon de biotechnologies (Saint-Hyacinthe) (August 2004): Construction of a new biotechnologies pavilion with an area of 24,000 sq. ft. on two floors. The ground floor of the new building contains classrooms for the building mechanics concentration, including a laboratory equipped with various teaching systems such as ventilation systems, fire pumps, compressors, boilers, solar water heaters, etc. The second storey houses five biotechnology laboratories, including two with a No. 2 confinement level. École primaire Margaret-Manson – Construction (Kirkland) (2003): Construction of a two-storey primary school with a single gymnasium, including outdoor site design. École primaire du Bout-de-L’isle – Construction – Geothermal system (Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue) (2001): Construction of a new 12-classroom primary school with an area of 31,000 sq. ft. on the Island of Montreal. This building includes two floors, with a single-storey section for kindergarten classes. It includes a gymnasium, administrative facilities, a daycare centre and an entrance that can be transformed into a community room. École primaire des Cardinaux - Construction (Laval) (2002): Construction of a primary school with an area of 4,250 m2, including 25 classrooms, with four for kindergarten, an administrative block, a library and a gymnasium for a student population of 500 students. The current layout of the school provides for the addition of four extra classrooms. École du Tournant (alternative centre) – Construction (Saint-Constant) (2002): Construction of a new, performing “green” school with an area of 2,600 m2 distributed over two floors; the facility was designed to be ecological and economical to operate. Solar panels, geothermal system, heat collectors and intelligent lighting make this secondary school for “drop-outs” a model building that consumes only one-quarter the energy of a conventional school, without releasing any greenhouse gases into the atmosphere .
École Polytechnique de Montréal – Main pavilion – Various retrofitting projects (Montreal) (2004): Completion of various retrofitting projects in the main building of the École Polytechnique on the campus of the Université de Montréal. The primary project involved expanding the structure laboratory, with a total area of 1,960 m2, including an area of 1,140 m2 which was a new construction. The principal technical challenge of this project was the construction of a test slab and a reaction wall that will be used to test large structural elements.
École nationale d’aérotechnique – Expansion – Phase 4 (Saint-Hubert) (January 2000): Expansion of the existing building on two sides, namely Sector A22.A, a new aircraft hangar with an area of 1,150 m2, and Sector D12.A, a new construction shop with an area of 250 m2.
